Welcome to Kaneko Canadian International School’s
Students will work towards honing in on essential academic habits, continue to grow confidence, and develop positive and healthy relationships with their teachers and peers.Using the International curriculum, along with our Islamic Studies curriculum, ourcertifiedteachers will prepare your child for more than just high school. It’s a time to build on all the skills, knowledge, and experience of the early years and pave a path to graduation and beyond.
Key Learning Areas in Our Grade-7 Program
KCIS Technology Program
Your child will have access to technology offered by KCIS School’s technology program. Your child will use technology to access information, collaborate with fellow peers, and demonstrate their learning through a variety of multimedia toolsand resources. Our students will learn how to use technology responsibly, allowing them to reap the benefits of technology. Through KCIS technology program, we will mould them into leaders that are confident, sophisticated, and ethical in a world where technology is ubiquitous.
Art
In Art class, students will: Expand their skills in creating visual art, experimenting with various media and techniques. Learn about the logistics of art projects, including organizing materials, maintaining a clean workspace, and using the right tools. Teachers encourage students to think outside the box and express themselves creatively on the canvas. Art helps students develop aesthetic sensitivity, perseverance, confidence, and strong work habits.
Dua's
In Dua lessons, students will:
- Memorization and Application: Learn important Duas used in daily activities.
- Supportive Resources: A Dua book will be provided to reinforce knowledge.
- Qur’an Connection: Students will memorize short surahs throughout the year, taught by a professional teacher, to enhance their connection with the Qur’an and deepen their spiritual understanding.
English Language Arts
The English Language Arts program in Grade 7 focuses on enhancing comprehension, critical thinking, and creative expression through: Students will read a variety of genres such as non-fiction, fiction, poetry, and drama, examining characters, themes, and literary techniques. Teachers guide students to reflect on their emotional and intellectual reactions to the literature they study. Students practice writing through creative writing, journals, diaries, and book reports, strengthening their skills. Emphasis on expanding students’ vocabulary and spelling skills to improve writing. Students have access to Iqra School’s growing library, filled with a wide range of books from science fiction to action and adventure, to foster a love for reading.
Islamic Studies
In Islamic Studies, Grade 7 students will explore:
The peaceful characteristics and duties of the prophets. Focus on Islamic morals, ethics, and personal responsibility. Instruction on performing different types of purification (e.g., Wudu and tayammum). Learning from the lives and lessons of the prophets. Each student will receive an Islamic Studies textbook/workbook to aid in their learning.
Mathematics
The Mathematics curriculum for Grade 7 students is designed to deepen their understanding and problem-solving abilities, covering: Advanced Concepts: Topics such as volume, surface area, angles, patterns and sequences, and Pythagoras’s theorem. Students will be introduced to concepts critical for future algebra and geometry courses. Emphasis on analyzing and ordering data, understanding patterns, and using statistics in real-world contexts. Encouraging critical problem-solving, mental math strategies, and logical reasoning. Students will use technology to solve problems and gain a deeper understanding of mathematical concepts.
Physical Education
focuses on developing: Activities like running, skipping, and balancing to improve coordination. Encouraging teamwork, cooperation, and fair play during games. Promoting a healthy lifestyle through daily exercise and physical activities. Educating students on the proper and safe use of sports equipment.
Qur’an
In Qur’an lessons, students will:
Continue memorizing important surahs from the Qur’an. Learn the meanings of the surahs they memorize. Recite with proper pronunciation and understanding under the guidance of a professional teacher.
Science
In Science, students will build on prior knowledge and explore new topics in depth, including: Engaging in experiments and hands-on activities to better understand scientific concepts. Studying concepts such as ecosystems, chemistry, physics, and earth sciences. Encouraging inquiry-based learning to develop skills in observation, hypothesis testing, and data analysis. A dedicated science lab (coming Fall 2025) will allow students to conduct experiments and deepen their understanding of scientific principles.
Social Studies
Social Studies focuses on: Students learn about different communities, their cultures, and the social and economic aspects of various regions, including Bangladesh. Exploring geographic features and the impact of environment on societies. Encouraging students to appreciate and respect cultural diversity and global interconnections.
Islamic Values
Students will: Learn and apply Islamic values in daily life, reinforcing respect, kindness, and responsibility. Emphasize the importance of character-building through Islamic teachings and daily practices. Continue learning essential Duas, enhancing their spiritual and moral understanding.
This curriculum ensures that students in Grade 7 at KCIS are not only academically strong but also rooted in strong moral values, preparing them for success in both their educational journey and life beyond.
