Key Learning Areas in Our Grade-2 Program
Arabic
Students will study the Arabic alphabet with correct pronunciation and handwriting. Introduction to basic grammar, including sentence construction. Building essential vocabulary for everyday and Quranic use. Short stories and verses to enhance reading fluency. Developing an understanding of Arabic phrases and their meanings. Exposure to Arabic culture through songs, games, and dialogues.
Art
Exploring various mediums such as painting, drawing, crafting, and sculpting. Teaching organization, material handling, and tool usage. Seasonal crafts, Eid decorations, and Islamic calligraphy. Encouraging innovative and independent creative ideas. Collaborative art projects to foster social skills and cooperation.
Islamic Values
Islamic principles and values embedded in all activities. Basic Islamic practices, including prayers, greetings, and manners. Emphasis on honesty, kindness, and respect for others. Learning lessons from the lives of the prophets. Fostering a strong connection to Islamic identity through engaging methods.
Dua's
Memorize and understand duas for daily activities like eating, waking up, and traveling. Activities such as dua recitation contests and storytelling. Each student receives a colorful Dua book for reinforcement.
English Language Arts (ELA)
Independent and guided reading to build fluency and comprehension. Focus on creative writing, sentence formation, and grammar. Weekly spelling tests and word-building activities. Confidence-building through class plays, group discussions, and storytelling. Regular practice to improve penmanship. Analyzing stories and texts to develop higher-order thinking skills.
Islamic Studies
The Five Pillars of Islam, mannerisms, and personal cleanliness. Understanding life lessons and moral values. Wudu, salah, and fasting, taught in an age-appropriate way. Use of an Islamic Studies textbook and workbook.
Mathematics
Counting, addition, subtraction, and introduction to multiplication. Real-life applications of mathematical concepts. Identifying and working with shapes (2D and 3D). Developing quick calculation skills. Organizing and interpreting data using charts and graphs. Math puzzles, games, and hands-on exercises.
Physical Education (PE)
Exercises like running, skipping, balancing, and team sports. Enhancing coordination, motor skills, and agility. Group activities to promote cooperation and sportsmanship. Learning about healthy eating and fitness habits. Participation in sports day and fitness challenges.
Qur’an
Weekly lessons focusing on proper tajweed and memorization of surahs. Learning the meanings of selected verses for practical application. Classes guided by experienced and qualified Quran teachers. Integration of Quranic teachings in everyday routines.
Science
Studying the seasons, weather, plants, and animals. Conducting experiments and making observations. Practicing prediction, measurement, and recording data. Group activities to promote teamwork and curiosity. Connecting lessons to nature walks and environmental awareness.
Social Studies
Learning about family roles, neighborhoods, and responsibilities. Exploring maps, landmarks, and cultures worldwide. Studying the country’s history, culture, and geography.
